Thaipusam 2007
The Hindu festival of Thaipusam 2007 was a happy photographic outing for me. I went with my friend David, who had studied photography and used to a commercial / fashion photographer, but had not taken pictures for some 20 years. Perhaps his company inspired me. I produced a number of images that I am pleased with and proud to share in contrast to Thaipusam 2006 when I was sorely disappointed with not having produced even one photograph worthy of showing. Well, maybe one or two. Once again, my focus during Thaipusam 2007 was on the hands. But this year, I had some nice images also of the arm, including some “chaotic” compositions with needles criss-crossing the space and beads forming arcs all over. I was quite pleased with these images which, despite the crowded lines, turned out quite nice. I was happy and about to leave the temple when I decided to stay a while longer, and spotted a family with a lovely young woman and several equally lovely children. So I ended up with some wonderful candid portraits as well. The next Thaipusam will be in January 2008. Do look out for it then. |
