Thaipusam 2007: Indian child

thaipusam 2007 - indian child

This Indian child at Thaipusam 2007... is it a boy or a girl?

Hard to say huh? Frankly, I don't know but I think it's a boy. I've ever seen Indian boys with similarly long and thick eye lashes, the sort that many a girl would die for!

Actually, I did not notice the eye lashes until after the photograph was taken (using Kodak Supra 400 negative), developed and scanned and I saw it at home on my iMac.

As usual, my attention was drawn by the hands and I managed to capture this with the fingers in an interesting position.

I have another image of this same child that came out good too. The fingers here and the eyes aren't looking up.

So at first glance, this is a less interesting picture.

But the child is deeper in thought.

I also like richer background of this picture, especially the patch of red behind the child. I feel the background here is more colorful without being distracting.

thaipusam 2007 - deep thought

As mentioned in the another picture of an Indian boy at Thaipusam 2007, the background is often crucial to the success or failure of the photographic image.

Actually, the more I look at this second image, the more I prefer it to the one at the top of this page. I think this is a more intense image of the two.
