Thaipusam 2007: Pretty smile
This cheerful, pretty smile really made my day not during Thaipusam 2007 itself, but only after, when I viewed the image at home. At the temple, I was commenting to my friend David, who had accompanied me for the photo taking, that there were no pretty girls at Thaipusam this year. This is not just men's talk, but I always remember one very beautiful Indian lady, taken during my first Thaipusam photography session in 1981. I think I took this photograph after I made that remark. Even then, I did not see her as being particular beautiful or pretty. And this, too, was another quick shot taken in an instant. And I was rather disappointed when I collected my scans and saw, on the thumbnail images on the CD cover, that the right eye of the lady had been cut off. So imagine my pleasant surprise when I viewed the digital file and saw, not only that her eye was intact, but also that she had such a bright, cheerful, lovely, pretty smile. And such perfect, white teeth too. I can bet you those are natural white teeth, not dentures. Cross my heart, I did not whiten her teeth with Photoshop. In fact, I did not have to do a single Photoshop digital enhancement, not even a crop. Incidentally, this is lady with the pretty smile is the one whose hands I captured in the mother and child photograph in this Thaipusam 2007 series.
